PROFIBUS is a vendor-independent, open field bus based on the international standards IEC 61158 and IEC 61784. It can be used for a wide range of applications in manufacturing and process automation. PROFIBUS supports high-speed and time critical applications and complex communication tasks. PROFIBUS allows communication between compliant devices of different manufacturers without any special interface adjustment.
PROFIBUS is based on a true bus topology, which allows to exchange bus devices without interfering the operation of the whole system.
